Weekly review
In terms of U.S. stocks, the performance of U.S. stocks I hold was quite weak this week, and generally fell to varying degrees. TSMC (US stock code: TSM), Facebook (US stock code: FB), Didi Chuxing (US stock code: DIDI), Paypal ( U.S. stock code: PYPL) , NVIDIA (US stock code: NVDA), and Apple (US stock code: AAPL) fell 4.24%, 3.76%, 2.92%, 2.83%, 2.57% and 1.97%, respectively. As for ARK funds, the holdings of ARKK and ARKG were little changed, rising by 0.86% and 0.23% respectively. This week, the investment sector once again rotated, and funds were transferred from large and high-performance technology stocks to growth stocks again.
As for Hong Kong stocks, Chinese stocks continued to fall sharply across the board. Tencent (HK stock code: 700), Alibaba (HK stock code: 9988), China Merchants Bank (HK stock code: 3968) and Xiaomi (HK stock code: 1810) fell 5.76%, 7.74%, 8.24% and 4.56%, respectively. I believe that many investors have fallen to the point that they have lost all confidence in Hong Kong stocks.
In terms of stock options, I have a short call position of Didi with strike price of US$9 and expiration on September 24, that is next week. Under the market condition, it has a low chance of being exercised and sold at the price of US$9, in such a case, I will open another covered short call with expiration on next month. Another short put option that I hold is of Xiaomi, its strike price is HK$22 with expiration on September 29. This depends on the market conditions in the second half of the month. If the Chinese stocks continue to decline, there is a good chance that the stock will be bought at HK$22. The last one is a purely speculative Evergrande short put. The strike price is HK$2 and expires on November 29. This option is now close to the strike price. Anyway, I have just a small bet on it. I will wait to see if Evergrande will finally go bankrupt. Now it seems that there is a high chance of bankruptcy. Although the government has actively coordinated with Chinese banks to delay repayment, the current situation of properties selling of Evergrande is not good, so the risks are increasing.
