Operations this week
On July 8, 2021, I bought 100 shares of Alibaba at HK$197.1 (HK stock code: 9988), and sold 10 shares of Berkshire Hathaway Inc-CL B (US stock ticker: BRK.B). See this article in detail.
Weekly review
Regarding the US stock market, FAAMG has performed relatively outstanding, especially Amazon (US stock ticker: AMZN) and Apple (US stock ticker: AAPL), rising 5.93% and 3.68%, respectively. As for the semiconductor stocks like NVIDIA (US stock ticker: NVDA ) and AMD (US stock ticker: AMD), and growth stocks like Tesla (US stock ticker: TSLA) and Teladoc (US stock ticker: TDOC), they rose back a bit to 2.14%, 4.05%, 3.23% and 3.45%, respectively.
Regarding HK stock market, Chinese stocks have continued to be suppressed. Alibaba (HK stock code: 9988), Tencent (HK stock code: 700) and China Merchants Bank (HK stock code: 3968) continued to expand the declining, falling 7.78%, 6.27% and 4.87%, respecitvely. Xiaomi (HK stock code: 1810) was positively affected by share repurchase, rising 1.91%.
This week, I increased my holdings of Alibaba. At the end of the month, there is a high probability that my short put will be triggered to buy Tencent and Xiaomi. The strike prices are HK$560 and HK$26 respectively. If the buy orders really happen to be exercised by the time, I am okay with it. However, if it ends up rising back and does not trigger the buy orders, I will feel a bit pity. On the other hand, although I missed the opportunity of buying Tencent at the low level of HK$520 by using short put, in fact, even if I had not used short put, I might not have waited until it dropped to the level of HK$520 and would have bought it much sooner. As mentioned previously, the purpose of using short put is to train yourself to be disciplined to buy at a pre-set price.
As usual, I continue to have a lot of confidence in the companies that I own (though just a tiny portion of them). Also the old saying – I believe that the companies’ development will get better and better in the future, and let us grow together with outstanding companies, so as to share the results of the company’s development.
